When it comes to medical news that involves brain surgery, YouTube and a banjo there is only one medical expert to turn to... Dr. Eric Lanford. Actually, he's not a doctor, nor has he played one on TV, but when it comes to diagnosing viral videos there is no one more capable. This weekend Doc L. (as we like to call him) talks to the star of a clip that is getting thousands of hits. His name is Eddie Adcock and the first time we saw him he was playing the banjo while laying on an operating table with a doctor elbow deep in his brain! Scrub in and join Dr. Lanford in the "News To Me" operating room tonight to meet Eddie and his surgeon. Find out how he ended up pickin' and grinnin' and having brain surgery at the same time!

The links to the full video of Eddie's operation and everything else you saw in this weekend's "News To Me" are right here:

The Links for 7/5 and 7/6

Happy 4th of July weekend! Hope you survive with all your fingers intact!

While you are "ooohhhing and aaahhhing" over your hometown fireworks display tonight, we are locked in a dark room lit only by the glow of computer monitors and a red white and blue lava lamp obsessing over every frame of video in this weekend's edition of "News To Me." Well... one of us is anyway. Thanks Teague! We'll save you a sparkler and a beer! Unless Charles drinks that one too.

OK... keeping this one kind of short... we know you have a lot of "long weekending" to do and I'm certain reading this blog isn't anywhere near as high on your list as doin' up some steaks and veggies on the grill by the pool. In fact, it's probably not even as high on your list as CLEANING the grill OR the pool...

Escalator spin goes bad

Escalator Girl Rebekah Schecter recreates her stunt and falls

We're breakin' new ground today! Our first video produced exclusively for the blog! You've seen Rebekah Schecter (Bekah Jane to her friends) spinning on the escalator rails, but in this cell phone video emailed to us from her friend Liz, you'll see what it looks like when the spin goes wrong!

Liz Peik tells us that this video was shot to celebrate the fact that Bekah and her spin had gone viral! Anderson Cooper had just featured the clip as "The Shot" on AC360 so they decided to recreate the stunt, but this attempt was obviously much less successful.

I spoke to Bekah earlier this week... she told me that she first attempted this stunt about a year ago in Las Vegas. A friend of hers named Frank Schettini, who happens to be a monster truck driver, mentioned that he thought if she laid across the escalator rails that she'd spin "like a helicopter blade."

Bekah, who tends bar at The Tin Horn Flats in Burbank, California right now, has done a lot in her 28 years. She's been a truck dealer, a crew chief for the TV show "Adventure Highway," Red Bull even sponsored her to ride cross country on a motorcycle! But right now all those accomplishments are being eclipsed by one fateful night at the Arclight Cinema in Sherman Oaks when her escalator spin stunt was caught on video.

Bekah wasn't hurt in the video above, but as many people have pointed out, she could have been. Lots of people are injured on escalators every year while just using them as they were intended. Especially kids and older people. This is obviously not something escalators were designed to do and definitely something you do not want to try yourself.

Eric in the News To Me outdoor studio

You LIKE US, you REALLY like us! Thanks to y'all, last weekend, "News To Me" had its best ratings since moving to prime time! Needless to say, we're pretty happy about that. Apparently Eric's fan told some friends to watch, and then they told some friends and so on and so on and so on...

In an effort to keep that ratings ball rollin' we worked overtime to put together an even better half hour of YOUR stories, YOUR pictures and YOUR videos for this weekend.

Being the "active viewers" that you are we know you want MORE, NOW! OK. The links to most of the stories we featured on this weekends show are on the next page. click here for the full list

We were down to the WIRE on this show. Seriously... I think we were still editing the last block while the first block was already on the air! OK... that's an exaggeration... but still, we worked the deadline hard to get this show on.

So much new stuff came in last-minute. The interview with Dr. Shostak for example... we didn't get his alien expertise on tape until Wednesday night! If you consider that one minute of our finished show equals about one hour in editing... that's a pretty fast turnaround!

Speaking of fast turnarounds... check out the list of links to all the good stuff in this weekend's show by clicking here

You saw something in the show you want to know more about? Awesome, you have come to the right place my friend! We went from China, to Philly, to Wal*Mart to your "Man Caves." Not to mention other various nooks and crannies of the interweb, so it's understandable if you couldn't keep up with all the sights and sites we showed you.

That's why we put together this nifty list of links on the next page
