Final show "thank you's" from Eric

Posted: 01:36 PM ET

This weekend is our final show on HLN. It's been a good run and as they say, "All good things must come to an end."

If you'll allow me just a brief moment of your time, I'd like to say thanks to some of the people who made "News To Me" possible:

You, the viewers. It was your show all along, so I hope you liked it.

The locations. We shot in just about every neighborhood in Atlanta. Thanks for the food, drink and fun stories.

The crew. Simply the best shooters, audio techs & PA’s in the business.

The HLN staff and executives. Thanks for everything. You allowed us to have fun and make good TV.

Interns. Hope you learned something and I need to be nice to you in case you are my boss in the future. Good luck.

Mike, Grayson, Aaron, Charles… great friends. Good luck, kick butt.

Teague. "Allright DH!" Great work, thanks for making me always look and sound good.

JB. Thanks for the chance.

-Eric

Lake Jocassee puts NTM at #1 on CNN.com

Posted: 02:28 PM ET

Thank you (again)!!! For the third time in 4 weeks YOU have put "News To Me" at the top of the CNN.com/video "Most Popular" list!

NTM #1 on 2/25

You chose to watch Eric's interview with Debbie Fletcher about her search beneath the surface of Lake Jocassee for the building that holds her childhood memories, more than any other video on CNN.com yesterday... and that means a lot to us! Thank you!

If you were intrigued, inspired or merely just interested in that story you'll definitely want to make time for what is coming up NEXT on "News To Me". This weekend (2/28 & 3/1) you'll meet a man named Ed Port whose disease may help you put some of your problems in perspective. iReporter Michael Murphy introduced us to Ed and his story. You'll hear from Ed himself and learn the surprising connection between him and President Barack Obama.

Hope we'll see you this weekend.

Amy Borkowsky's other Super Bowl commercial

Posted: 09:27 PM ET

The big game may be over, (Congratulations Steelers fans... it is now safe to wash your terrible towels!) but Amy Borkowsky's search for love goes on! Her plan was to use a website to try and raise the 3 million dollars she would have needed to buy a commercial in the Super Bowl. She came up short, but her "super" personal ad DID get a national audience, right here on "News To Me!"

What you DIDN'T find out in Eric's interview is that Amy actually produced TWO ads! The one you saw on "News To Me" AND another one that features a special guest appearance by her Mom! Check it out:

Much like Kurt Warner's persuit of a Super Bowl ring, Amy's search for a husband will go on. Interested? Surf over to her site at SuperBowlSingleGirl.com or send her an email: amy@superbowlsinglegirl.com! Tell her Eric sent you. Actually... just tell her you saw her on "News To Me" and that you think she's hot. That's more likely to get you a reply!

Bonus show for early risers!

Posted: 06:40 AM ET

News To Me Host Eric Lanford and Morning Express with Robin Meade anchor Robin Meade

Last week Robin was kind enough to give Eric some extra face time. So this week, we're letting her and the rest of the Morning Express crew get a little extra shuteye on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

"News To Me" is HLN's spotlight on citizen journalism. It's usually on at 7:30pm and 9:30pm on Saturday and Sunday... and we will be back in those time slots this weekend. In fact the show you early-risers got to watch on 12/31 and 1/1 is a sneak peek at the "News To Me 2008 iReport Special" that will air this weekend! It's a show packed with as many of our favorite iReports and iReporters we could squeeze into half an hour.

A spotlight on iReporters is PERFECT for these shows that air so early in the morning... because collectively, they never sleep! It doesn't matter what time of day or where in the world the story is happening you can bet someone is awake, watching and uploading. It might even be YOU!

If you saw something in this morning's preview that you'd like to see more of, it's all waiting for you at iReport.com! Thanks for watching, and let a late rising friend know they can tune in this weekend to see the episode of "News To Me" you saw on HLN this morning!

Triathlete multitasking

Posted: 08:45 AM ET

Eric multitasking

Producer Grayson asked me an interesting question… first he asked, "why don’t you blog more often?" I couldn't find a way to answer this other than I am real lazy when it comes to assignments. Then he asked me, "what do you think about when you run?"

Now, for those who cant tell from my girlish figure, I run all the time (at least I did, until my heart starting having this freak out thing). I really enjoy running. Why? Because I do my best work while sweating to REM blasting on my iPod. I think about the show, how to improve it, how to make it more entertaining for you. Most of all, I think about how can I get my face in more places… on sides of buses, in Times Square… or maybe I should lower my expectations and just get someone to recognize me in the street (but if you know me, you know I could care less about that). Here are some thoughts that I actually wrote down while running:

I hope my heart keeps beating…
How much I really enjoy the outdoors.
How this global warming thing is a crock.
How to tell REM (my friends) that they need to go back and listen to Murmur.
How I lost thought #8 by seeing a beautiful female runner pass me by…
How can I get more people to watch?
What is the meaning of life?
Will the UGA Bulldogs go #1 in pre-season polls?
Who will win the British Open? (I know it will not be Tiger)
"News To Me" airing in the next hour, the 9:30 PM ET one…
    Sweat
    And finally, Isn't life great?
