"News To Me" on location: Downtown Atlanta, GA

Originally our plan was to shoot this weekend's show in and around Centennial Olympic Park which is conveniently located right across the street from CNN Center. Pretty, green, lots of fountains. What we didn't count on was a huge contingent of college football fans swarming the park for the annual Atlanta Classic game (Florida A&M beat Tennessee state 28-21) taking place at the Georgia Dome right next door.

So we went underground :

Little known fact about Atlanta... "street level" in a lot of places is actually several stories above ground, so there are lots of little hidden passageways and nooks and crannies to explore. In true Eric Lanford fashion your fearless host braved the (sometimes stinky) underbelly of the city to bring you into a world of concrete, asphalt and steel. That's just "caution tape" not "police tape" over the elevator door in the shot above by the way...

Atlanta was once called "Terminus" because it was the end of the line for the Western & Atlantic Railroad at one point. Trains still run through town, but the city has grown up and over the tracks. In downtown Atlanta you are likely to hear a train, but not very likely to see one. The one behind Eric in the shot above just happened to be coming by, but we didn't have to wait long for others.

Back above ground Producer Charles managed to get his mug in front of the camera yet again! He's walking behind Eric in the shot above. There's a chance he won't make the final cut (the show is in final edits right now)... but he usually does.
